Design

The 2024 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid line has just two trim levels, the X-Line and X-Line Prestige.  More trims are unnecessary because there are so many amazing standard features even on the base model. For example, both models have an incredible panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade and a smart power liftgate. The cargo area offers an ample 40 cubic feet of storage space, and you get more from a dual-level cargo floor with a sturdy cover to hide its contents.

Even better, Kia has designed this trim’s configuration so the entire family can be comfortable on even the longest road trips. Standard features in the lower X-Line trim include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support, and a dual-zone climate control system with rear AC vents. The higher X-Line prestige trim has a standard heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and ventilated front seats.

Performance

Both trims come with a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine and Full Parallel Hybrid System. The electric motor alone delivers 89 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque, the engine offers 177 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Together, they provide 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The 6-speed automatic transmission is also standard and has four drive modes from which you can choose: Normal, Smart, Sport, and Snow. The AWD hybrid model has a 34-mile driving range and a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes or 1,653 without.

Technology

The lineup’s base model has a standard 6-speaker sound system with SiriusXM satellite radio. The infotainment system features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity for multiple devices are also standard. A wireless phone charger, USB media port, and USB-C charging port are in the front row, and two USB-C charging ports are in the second row.
